Angels Along The Way

Read:  Hebrews 13:2
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:1-3 (in Context) Hebrews 13 (Whole Chapter)

I was riding home from a meeting tonight with Mardi Collins.  We started talking about our backgrounds and of course one thing led to another.  Mardi told me about a book she read Angels Along The Way.  After I dropped her off and as I traveled on to mine I could not get that thought out of my head.

I was given a gift when I lost my eye sight with the inscription "I Believe In Angels."  I remember thinking at the time that I had known a few angels along life's way. My life was anything but smooth as a child so I often thought of ministering angels and recognized them for what they were and what they did in my own life.  As an adult I had sort of put the idea on the back burner.

I had become accustomed to the idea that "I" was in charge. When a spouse dies (I had lost my husband of 34 years), you know pretty rapidly that you alone have no control! I was definitely not in charge! I had to summon up all the spiritual background of my life and really put it to the test. It was during this time that I came to the realization that God ministers to us in many ways. He promised us His Spirit would be within us to guide us and help us discern God's Will for our lives. I believe  that wholeheartedly.

When Mardi said that tonight I began to see the role that friends and strangers alike were playing in the daily walk of my life. Kind concern, unspoken words, but a silent reaching out, giving me hope that I was am alone:  What Do Angels Look Like?  Like the small child who showed you the wonder in simple things. Like the poor man or woman you took food to and they offered to share their lunch with you. Like the pastor who showed you that it really is all possible, if only you believe. Like the stranger who just happened to come along, when you had lost your way. Like the friend who touched your heart, when you didn't think you had one.  Angels come in all sizes and shapes, all ages and skin types. Some with freckles, some with dimples, some with wrinkles, some without. They come disguised as friends, enemies teachers, students, lovers and fools. They don't take life too seriously, they travel light. They leave no forwarding address, they ask nothing in return.  They are hard to find when your eyes are closed, but when you choose to see, they are everywhere you look, So, open you eyes and count all your Angels, for you are truly blessed!
Angels, please send this devotional to all those who make a difference in your life.

Dear Lord,  thank you for sending angels my way.  I do know that angels are everywhere and I will be more aware of their presence.  I thank you too for the angels you have sent to me along my life journey.  I am so blessed.  In Jesus name ... amen.

Have a fabulous Friday in Jesus

Sharon
