This year we have 22 of our 7th and 8th grade youth and two amazing Moms attending Confirmation Camp at Camp Chrysalis. This is a great opportunity to build friendships, faith in Christ and just have fun with your friends! Camp songs, S'Mores, Hiking, Archery, Basketball, Crafts, Swimming. Friendships are all in store for you when you arrive.
PROJECT HOPE / THORNTON FAMILY ASSISTANCE
In February the Chruch Council approved "Project Hope: A Disaster Assistance Ministry" as an ongoing project to provide immediate funds in case of a local Natural Disaster such as home fire, tornado, or flood. We also included the continuing assistance via designated gifts for the Roosevelt Thornton Family. While intended for good, it only caused a confusion of funds. So the Council has removed the Thornton Assistance Fund from Project Hope, and asked the former Project Hope Task Force to continue to manage the distribution of designated gifts to the Thornton Family and allowed the "Project Hope: A Disaster Assistance Ministry" to be placed under the Stewardship Committee with Walter Stroman as our area Disaster Contact Person. The Thornton Assistance Task Force has only one goal: "To assist this family so that they can stay together and have a home to live in and provide assistance to Mr. Thornton as he seeks to raise four children. Designated gifts should be made payable to St. John, memo your contribution: The Roosevelt Thornton Family Assistance Project.

I want to express my deep appreciation to the Charity Dinner Committee, the High School Youth, the Property Committee and the leaders of VBS for their generous donations to the playground Fund. We have been in need of upgrades to this area of our church and with these donations we will be able to make the plans a reality.
