JEFF PAYNE
Jeff Payne and he is a Major in the Air Force. His wife’s name is Cassie and
they have blessed us with two beautiful granddaughters – Ella 5-1/2 and Sydney
2. I have attached pictures of Jeff and of the whole family to go on the
website.
Jeff is a 1997 graduate of the Air Force Academy graduating with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Civil Engineering, and has a Master’s Degree in Civil
Engineering that he received at the Air Force Institute of Technology at
Patterson AFB, Ohio. This deployment will be his third deployment to the Middle
East. His first tour was in Saudi Arabia and his second was in Jordan and Iraq
at the beginning of the Iraqi conflict in 2003. He was active duty Air Force
for 7 years after graduating from the AFA, and he then he joined a reserve unit
-- the 8th Civil Engineering Squadron, 10th Air Force at
the Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth, Texas in 2006. This is the unit that has
been called up to be deployed to Iraq. Prior to being deployed to Iraq this
time, his civilian job was with Frees and Nichols Engineering.
Jim and I are very proud of Jeff – he’s served many times in harms way and we
ask that the members of St. John remember Jeff and his family in their prayers.

Brian James
is back in the states after 18 months in Iraq. He is now at Fort Gordon,
Augusta GA. He is going to school there for about 6 months. He is a 1998
graduate of TMI and a 2002 graduate of Princeton's Army ROTC program. He
is married (Tinley) and has an almost 3 year old son (Knox). Brian is a
Captain in the Army Signal Corps. He has been very appreciative of the
prayers and care packages that have been provided by the members of St. John
Lutheran Church.

Adam J. Payne, son of Jim and LuClare Payne, has been deployed to Iraq
with the 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Divison.

Adam has been a member of
St. John since 1996 and is a 1999 graduate of Boerne High School. Adam
graduated from Texas A&M University in 2003 where he was a member of the Corps
of Cadets and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Artillery in the U.S.
Army.
Adam has been stationed at
Fort Lewis, Washington since his commissioning where his wife, Elizabeth, will
be residing and awaiting his safe return.

Adam will be 23 on July 31. He is a
Corporal in the army. He has been in
Fort Bragg NC. He is now in
Iraq. When he comes back from this current
tour he will be out of Army and plans
on going to college at UTSA.

Maltsberger Twins Zane and Ryan---Contact: Betty

ZANE MALTSBERGER - US Navy
Search & Rescue - Was deployed on classified mission since September 2006 -
returned to San Diego two weeks ago. Went to Iraq on Kitty Hawk when war
started in March 2003.
CWO RYAN MALTSBERGER -
US Army Black Hawk pilot. Went to Iraq in July 2006. Was stationed
in Mosul, Iraq and after leave in January 2007 moved to Tikrit Iraq. Was
to return to his base in Hawaii in July but has been extended 3 months, now due
to return to Hawaii in later October or November 2008.

Ryan and Zane were born and lived in Boerne and attended
Boerne schools thru 8th grade and were confirmed by Pastor Schulte when he came
to St. John's. They graduated from Smithson Valley High School. Ryan
received his college degree from Northwood University in Arlington, TX (Zane is
still working on his)
The photos show Ryan reading letters in his "chopper" from
Debbie Holman's 2nd grade class. The other two photos are when he visited
Fabra 2nd grade in January and did a slide show and presentation of places he's
been in Iraq.
